Tesla Is Hiding a Mystery Car at Giga Texas and Nobody Knows What It Is
A fresh wave of activity at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, has revealed a significant number of new vehicles, including a mysterious covered prototype that has sparked intense speculation among onlookers.
Drone footage captured at the site shows a large fleet of approximately 40 to 50 Tesla Cybercabs. The collection includes both matte prototypes and glossy gold versions, which appear to be closer to production quality. Several of these autonomous vehicles were seen undergoing testing on the factory’s end-of-line track and at the crash testing facility.
The most intriguing discovery, however, is a fully covered mystery vehicle parked near a Model Y and a Cybertruck. To keep its design hidden, Tesla even masked the wheels in white vinyl. Top-down visual comparisons suggest the vehicle is larger than a standard Model Y, leading many to believe this could be the long-rumored Model Y L (which is only available in Asia Pacific markets) or perhaps a dedicated minivan prototype.
With the Model X reportedly nearing the end of its lifecycle, industry watchers suggest this new model could be a potential successor or a new high-capacity addition to the lineup. Some reports indicate that mass production for this mystery model could begin soon, with a possible North American launch in the coming months.
“Giga Texas has a new mystery car under a cover and the wheels also masked off with white vinyl,” noted Joe Tegtmeyer, who captured the footage. “Fortunately I was able to get a top-down view of this one next to another Model Y and a Cybertruck for comparison.”
