Tesla Is Cutting Prices for Government Fleet Buyers — Up to 4% Off
Tesla is making a major move to electrify public sector fleets through a new partnership with Sourcewell, the largest government purchasing cooperative in the United States. The agreement allows more than 50,000 government bodies and higher education institutions to streamline the purchase of Tesla vehicles while significantly cutting long-term operating costs.
Under the specific contract designated as number 081325-TES, participating agencies can access immediate savings on new orders of the Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck. The base incentive includes a 1% discount on the vehicle configuration, which covers the base model, paint, and wheel options. This discount is applied before destination and order fees are added to the final price.
For larger agencies looking to overhaul their fleets, Tesla has introduced a tiered volume discount structure that replaces the flat 1% rate. Organizations taking delivery of between six and 15 vehicles receive a 2% discount. This incentive increases to 3% for orders of 16 to 50 vehicles and reaches a maximum of 4% for fleets of 51 vehicles or more.
By leveraging Sourcewell’s massive purchasing power, Tesla aims to lower the barrier for public agencies to transition away from internal combustion engines. This partnership provides a direct path for city governments and universities to meet sustainability goals while benefiting from the reduced maintenance and fuel expenses associated with electric vehicle fleets.
