Tesla Sets Delivery Record in Malaysia for 2025

Tesla is closing out 2025 on a high note in Southeast Asia. According to a year-end update shared by Tesla Malaysia, the automaker delivered more than 7,200 electric vehicles in the country this year, marking its strongest performance since entering the Malaysian market just over two years ago.
In a post celebrating the milestone, Tesla Malaysia highlighted “new milestones, growing communities, and more electric journeys across Malaysia” in 2025, underscoring how quickly the brand has gained traction in the region. The breakdown of deliveries shows that over 2,800 Model 3 sedans and more than 4,300 Model Y crossovers were delivered during the year, with the Model Y accounting for the bulk of Tesla’s local sales.
Notably, the Model 3 emerged as the most popular fully electric sedan in Malaysia in 2025, an impressive feat given the growing number of EV options entering the market. The Model Y, meanwhile, continued its strong momentum, climbing to the top of Malaysia’s fast-growing EV market and becoming the country’s best-selling electric vehicle in November amid a broader surge in nationwide EV adoption.
Tesla officially launched in Malaysia in July 2023, initially opening orders for the Model Y. The first Model Y deliveries followed in March 2024, laying the groundwork for what has since become a rapid expansion. Just a year later, Tesla’s annual delivery figures suggest the brand is moving well beyond an early-adopter phase and into more mainstream territory.
The strong performance in Malaysia also reflects Tesla’s broader momentum across Asia in 2025. Earlier this week, the company announced that its Gigafactory in Shanghai produced Tesla’s nine millionth vehicle globally, highlighting the scale and pace at which the automaker is operating as demand continues to grow in international markets.
With Malaysia’s EV infrastructure steadily improving and consumer interest accelerating, Tesla’s record 2025 deliveries could be just the beginning. If current trends hold, the company appears well-positioned to post even bigger numbers in the region in the years ahead.
