Tesla closed out November with major wins across Asia, topping private vehicle registrations in Hong Kong while the Model Y surged to the number-one spot in Malaysia’s fast-growing EV market.

According to Tesla Hong Kong, the company was the top brand for private vehicle registrations in the region last month, with the Model Y once again leading the electric vehicle category. Over in Malaysia, the Model Y also climbed to the top, becoming the country’s best-selling EV in November as part of a broader spike in nationwide electric vehicle adoption.

According to new registration data from Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ), the country logged a record 5,417 EV registrations in November — triple the figure from a year earlier. EVs accounted for 7% of total industry volume, the strongest performance of any powertrain type in the market. While Proton’s e.MAS 7 has led most of the year, Tesla reclaimed the number-one position last month with 810 Model Y units registered, followed by the e.MAS 7 at 786 and the Model 3 at 491.

The broader Malaysian EV market is also on track to surpass 40,000 registrations for the full year, more than double the 19,208 units recorded during the same period in 2024. BYD continues to dominate overall EV brand share, but Tesla remains a strong contender with 5,468 registrations year-to-date — enough to place third nationwide.

The momentum comes at a time when Tesla is experiencing one of its strongest sales surges of the year in China. Gigafactory Shanghai posted a major jump in November deliveries, and the demand spike has pushed delivery estimates for new Model Y orders into 2026 across the entire lineup. Certain trims, including the China-exclusive Model Y L, are now sold out until February.

With rising demand in China, market-leading performance in Hong Kong, and a breakout month in Malaysia, Tesla is entering the end of the year with clear upward momentum — and the Model Y continues to anchor the company’s global strength in the EV segment.
