Tesla’s FSD Wows Europe, Ride-Along Program Extended

Tesla has officially extended its new Full Self-Driving (Supervised) ride-along program in Europe, giving far more people a chance to experience the company’s latest autonomy tech from the passenger seat. The expansion comes just days after Tesla first announced the initiative across select European markets last week, with ride-alongs going live earlier this week. According to updated booking pages, the program will now run through March 31, 2026.
The extension follows overwhelmingly positive early reactions from attendees in Germany, France, and Italy. New ride-along footage across social media platforms shows FSD version 14.1.7 navigating narrow Italian village roads, tight corners, and winding countryside lanes with surprising confidence. Drivers familiar with these routes say the system handles cramped, unmarked passages with a level of composure that often surpasses human drivers — especially on roads that even locals find stressful.
Tesla even took the mayor of Rome on an FSD ride around the city. Check out some of the most impressive videos from Tesla’s recent ride-alongs below:

“We are currently offering ride-along experience in Germany, France, and Italy, as we are working towards an approval of FSD (supervised) in Europe. This is a great feedback opportunity from the general public, which we encourage to record and share their experience,” Tesla EU Policy and Business Development Manager Ivan Komušanac said in a new LinkedIn post. He also hinted at more availability coming soon, which lines up with today’s three-month extension and the expectation that additional European countries will be added to the program.
The timing of the expansion is strategic. In North America, Tesla is currently running free FSD (Supervised) trials throughout the holiday season for Hardware 4 owners who have never subscribed. Both efforts aim to get more people behind the wheel — or in this case, in the passenger seat — to understand how far the company’s autonomy stack has come.
Tesla began rolling out FSD 14.2 late last month, with early U.S. testers reporting that it delivers smoother driving and significantly reduces the sudden braking and hesitation issues that persisted in previous 14.x versions. Ride-along vehicles in Europe are reportedly still running 14.1.7 for now, but they will likely switch to 14.2 as it reaches more of Tesla’s global fleet.
FSD (Supervised) is now available in seven countries worldwide, following its launch in South Korea last month. Europe, however, remains Tesla’s biggest regulatory hurdle. While the company expects its first EU approval sometime in early 2026, regulators have signaled that the feature’s future in the region is not yet guaranteed. Still, momentum is building: Spain recently granted Tesla wide-reaching testing authorization for FSD, which could help accelerate broader acceptance.
With Tesla now extending its European ride-along program through Q1 2026, the company may secure its first official EU approval while the initiative is still underway — a milestone that would mark a major shift for autonomy in the region.
