Tesla Opens Orders for New Model Y Performance in Canada

Tesla has officially opened orders for the refreshed Model Y Performance in Canada, marking the long-awaited return of the Performance trim to the country. The newly updated model starts at $74,990 CAD (about $53,000 USD), with first deliveries scheduled for Q1 2026.
Canada has gone a while without access to the Model Y Performance, as Tesla limited local availability to the Long Range All-Wheel Drive version due to steep import tariffs — 100% on Chinese-built EVs and 25% on those manufactured in the U.S. Those tariffs even forced Tesla to sharply increase the price of the Model Y Long Range AWD earlier this year. However, that changed when the company shifted Canadian Model Y production to Gigafactory Berlin, allowing for significant price cuts.

Now, Tesla is extending that same tariff workaround to the new Performance trim. Canadian units will be built at Giga Berlin, which began producing the refreshed Model Y Performance back in September. With the factory already supporting European deliveries, Tesla can now funnel additional production toward Canada.
First launched in Europe in August and later in the U.S. in September, the refreshed Model Y Performance brings significant upgrades across performance, comfort, and tech. It boasts a 0–100 km/h time of 3.5 seconds, a top speed of 250 km/h, and up to 492 km of estimated range.

The exterior features redesigned front and rear fascias, a carbon fiber spoiler, and new staggered wheels for improved grip. Tesla has also added an adaptive damping system, upgraded brakes, and dedicated Performance drive modes.
Inside, the new trim brings ventilated and heated sport seats up front, plus heated, perforated, power-reclining second-row seats. Other refinements include acoustic glass, improved soundproofing, subtle ambient lighting, and Tesla’s upgraded 16-inch QHD centre display.
Giga Berlin recently began producing the new entry-level Model Y Standard as well, though Tesla hasn’t said when — or if — that more affordable variant will come to Canada.
