Volkswagen has announced that its electric vehicles will gain access to Tesla’s vast Supercharger network across North America starting November 18. The update will unlock more than 25,000 Supercharger stalls for compatible Volkswagen ID.4 and ID. Buzz owners, dramatically expanding their fast-charging options.
To use Tesla’s network, VW drivers will need to purchase a Volkswagen-approved NACS (North American Charging Standard) adapter, which connects to the CCS (Combined Charging System) port found on Volkswagen’s EVs. Adapters will be available via Volkswagen’s online store and through Volkswagen dealers at an MSRP of $200.
Original owners of Model Year 2025 ID.4 and ID. Buzz vehicles will also qualify for a $100 rebate on the adapter, provided they file their claim within 90 days of purchase and no later than July 15, 2026. Starting with Model Year 2026, Volkswagen EVs will include the NACS adapter as standard.

“This is great news for our EV owners,” said Petar Danilovic, Senior Vice President of Product Marketing and Strategy at Volkswagen of America. “They will now be able to access the more than 25,000 DC fast chargers on the Tesla Supercharger network across the United States, in addition to the more than 5,000 fast chargers on Electrify America’s grid. This makes life much more convenient, whether you are taking a road trip or you rely on public charging should home charging not be an option.”
Volkswagen’s NACS adapters are designed for DC fast charging only and won’t work with Level 1 or Level 2 AC chargers, such as home wall connectors or Tesla Destination Chargers. The automaker added that certain 2024 and 2025 ID. models will receive software updates to optimize Supercharger performance.
Volkswagen’s move comes nearly two years after the company first announced plans to adopt Tesla’s NACS platform across its brands in late 2023. Subsidiaries Audi and Porsche beat Volkswagen to the punch, enabling Supercharger access for their EV owners back in September.
The rollout also arrives just days after Google Maps began displaying real-time Tesla Supercharger availability, enhancing the charging experience for both Tesla and non-Tesla drivers using the network.
With access to both Tesla’s industry-leading Supercharger network and Electrify America’s growing footprint, VW owners will soon have one of the most expansive DC fast-charging ecosystems in North America at their disposal.
