Tesla Begins Model Y Standard Production at Giga Berlin Ahead of European Deliveries

Tesla has officially started production of the new entry-level Model Y Standard at its Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany. The news was announced by the official Tesla Manufacturing account (@gigafactories) on X, which posted, “Model Y Standard says ‘Hello World’ – Production at Giga Berlin has started today!”
This marks the start of European production for Tesla’s newest and most affordable version of the Model Y, which the company launched in the U.S. last month alongside the cheaper Model 3 Standard. Just days later, the automaker expanded availability of the new trim to Europe, with deliveries set to begin in November. Now that production has officially begun at Giga Berlin, the first units are likely to reach European customers soon.

The Model Y Standard offers up to 534 km of WLTP-rated range, a top speed of 201 km/h, and can go from 0–100 km/h in 7.2 seconds. Despite being a lower-cost version of Tesla’s best-selling SUV, the Model Y Standard still features the company’s latest HW4 hardware and maintains Tesla’s strong focus on safety and efficiency.
To hit a lower price point, Tesla made a few cost-saving adjustments compared to higher trims. The Model Y Standard features manual-adjust steering and second-row seats, lacks ventilated or heated rear seats, and does not include a rear passenger touchscreen. It also swaps out the panoramic glass roof found on pricier trims for a fabric headliner — a design change Tesla executives say helps improve manufacturing efficiency while keeping the vehicle’s overall structure lighter.

The Model Y Standard went into production at Gigafactory Texas in mid-October, with U.S. deliveries kicking off just days later. If Tesla follows a similar cadence in Europe, deliveries from Giga Berlin could begin within the next couple of weeks (if not sooner).
With production now live in both the U.S. and Europe, Tesla is clearly moving quickly to ramp up availability of its entry-level Model Y globally. That said, there’s no word yet on when the Model Y Standard could become available in Canada, where Berlin-built Model Ys have already started arriving.
