Tesla has added its rugged Terrestrial Armor Package to the Cybertruck configurator, allowing new buyers to include the upgrade at the time of ordering. The announcement was made by the official Cybertruck account (@cybertruck) on X, which posted: “A knight needs its armor. If you want to get me the Terrestrial Armor Package, you can now do so when placing your order.”
Originally launched in August as an aftermarket OEM upgrade for the Foundation Series Cybertruck, the $3,500 Terrestrial Armor Package is designed to offer extra protection for owners who plan to take their trucks off-road. The kit includes an underbody battery shield and structural rock sliders for both sides of the vehicle, giving the stainless steel pickup additional defense against rocks, debris, and scrapes during challenging off-road excursions.

The underbody shield is made from corrugated aluminum to improve impact absorption, while the rock sliders are built from coated structural steel. Tesla’s lead Cybertruck engineer Wes Morrill previously explained that one part of the kit covers the battery for impact attenuation, and another replaces the rocker panels with steel sliders designed to handle breakover contact.
Until now, the Terrestrial Armor Package could only be purchased through Tesla’s online shop and installed at a Service Center. Now, the option appears directly in Tesla’s Cybertruck configurator for U.S. buyers. The upgrade costs $3,500 post-purchase, but those who add it during the ordering process can save $500 and get it for $3,000.
The configurator addition comes shortly after Tesla recalled more than 6,000 Foundation Series Cybertrucks earlier this week over a defective off-road lightbar installation issue that led to detachment risks. While that recall highlighted early manufacturing hiccups, the addition of the Terrestrial Armor Package signals Tesla’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the Cybertruck’s off-road credentials.
