Tesla Hiring Engineers for Next-Gen Roadster as Production Nears

Tesla appears to be making headway toward the long-awaited production of its next-generation Roadster. A new job posting from the company seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to help design and launch battery manufacturing equipment specifically for the upcoming electric supercar.
The listing calls for someone to “contribute to the concept development & launch of battery manufacturing equipment for its cutting-edge next-generation Roadster vehicle.”
Tesla adds that “in this role you will take large scale manufacturing systems for new battery products and architectures from the early concept development stage through equipment launch, optimization and handover to local operations teams. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges for the all-new Roadster product architecture while still in its early development stages.”
This marks one of the first concrete signs that Roadster production could be inching closer, even if it’s still some time away. The listing indicates that Tesla is now actively building out the manufacturing infrastructure that will support the car’s unique battery systems — a crucial step before volume production can begin.
The timing also aligns with recent comments from Tesla Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen, who confirmed last week that the next-generation Roadster is still on track to be unveiled before the end of the year. If that schedule holds, we could soon see Tesla finally deliver on its long-promised halo car, first announced back in 2017.
Tesla and CEO Elon Musk have set sky-high expectations for the all-new Roadster, previously claiming it would achieve a jaw-dropping 0–60 mph time of under one second thanks to advanced battery technology and potential cold-gas thrusters. It remains to be seen, however, how many of these ambitious promises will make it to production.
Still, this new hiring move suggests Tesla’s development efforts are moving steadily forward, and that the company is preparing for the crucial next phase of Roadster manufacturing.
