Tesla has officially enabled side camera recording on the Cybertruck with its latest over-the-air software update, version 2025.38.3. The update, which began rolling out earlier this week, adds long-awaited support for B-pillar camera recording through both Dashcam and Sentry Mode — one of the most frequently requested features from Cybertruck owners since deliveries began.
According to the release notes, “Your vehicle’s side cameras (B-Pillar) will now be recorded to both Dashcam and Sentry clips.” The feature allows Cybertruck owners to capture a wider range of footage around their vehicle, providing enhanced coverage for security incidents and parking situations. Owners celebrated the addition on X, with one user, @greggertruck, calling it “huge” for improving security.

Tesla first introduced B-pillar camera recording for its “newer” S3XY models as part of its 2025 Spring software update back in April. However, the Cybertruck — which uses a slightly different camera suite — did not initially include the feature, leaving many owners wondering when it would arrive.
The 2025.38 update also brings 3D buildings and cityscapes to the navigation display, further improving visual awareness for drivers. That feature is available on the Cybertruck as well, giving the all-electric pickup the same 3D navigation experience as the rest of Tesla’s lineup.
The timing of this update is notable, as Tesla’s AI chief Ashok Elluswamy recently confirmed that the Cybertruck will soon gain complete Full Self-Driving (Supervised) functionality with version 14, expected to begin rolling out for the pickup later this month.
With side camera recording now live and FSD capabilities on the horizon, the Cybertruck is finally reaching parity with Tesla’s other flagship vehicles in both safety and autonomy.
