Tesla FSD 14 Starts Rolling Out Next Week, Says Musk

Tesla’s next major Full Self-Driving (Supervised) update is almost here. According to CEO Elon Musk, FSD version 14 will begin rolling out in early wide release starting next week. Musk added that FSD 14.1 should follow about two weeks later, with FSD 14.2 also on deck shortly after. The Tesla chief went as far as saying that by Version 14.2, the car will feel almost like a “sentient being.”
If Tesla starts pushing FSD 14.0 by Tuesday, the company could still deliver on the September launch window Musk first hinted at last month. At the time, he said that FSD 14 was in active testing and that a release was imminent. Shortly after, Musk hyped FSD 14 as the second biggest update to the system since FSD 12.
The upcoming release is expected to be powered by a neural network with ten times more parameters than the current version. Musk has promised “a dramatic gain” in performance and smoother driving behavior, with refinements that should further cut down on driver prompts. Once safety confidence improves, Tesla plans for FSD to “nag you much less,” reducing the frequency of steering wheel checks and camera-based alerts.
Tesla has been building momentum for FSD throughout 2025. Back in July, the company’s system significantly outperformed advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) from Chinese automakers in crash avoidance tests. Musk has since said FSD 14 could surpass the capabilities of human drivers by a factor of two to three.
While Tesla maintains that FSD remains in supervised mode — requiring drivers to pay attention and keep their hands at the ready to take over — the company’s pace of development underscores its ambition to push toward full autonomy.
With FSD 14 set to arrive within days, Tesla owners enrolled in the program could soon start experiencing what Musk calls one of the most transformative updates yet.
