Tesla has introduced a new version of its Wall Connector in the Netherlands that features a MID-certified meter, allowing employers to accurately record and reimburse home charging costs for employees with company cars. Priced at €570 (around $670 USD), the updated Wall Connector is now available through Tesla’s online shop in the country.

The addition of a MID-certified meter makes this Wall Connector especially appealing to businesses that provide electric company cars. A MID-certified meter, approved under the European Union’s Measuring Instruments Directive (MID), ensures high standards of accuracy and reliability. This certification is crucial for use in commercial transactions, safety applications, and environmental monitoring across the EU, as it standardizes approval procedures and guarantees precision.

With this functionality, employers can confidently reimburse their staff for energy costs associated with charging at home. It also simplifies the process for drivers who rely on a company car, ensuring reimbursements are based on exact consumption rather than estimates.

As Tesla explains on its shop listing, the Wall Connector remains the company’s most versatile and convenient charging solution. The device is compatible with any Type 2 charging port and offers features like Wi-Fi connectivity for wireless updates, the ability to plan and track charging sessions through the Tesla app, and automatic adjustments based on household energy usage (a dynamic energy meter is sold separately). It delivers up to 71 km of range per hour, supports up to 22 kW on a three-phase grid, and comes with a 7.3-meter cable.

Tesla already launched this MID-compliant Wall Connector in Denmark earlier this summer, and its expansion into the Netherlands suggests broader availability across Europe may follow soon. Earlier this month, Tesla started selling its other charging solution, Superchargers, directly to businesses.
