Tesla to Open New Delivery Center at Giga Texas for Factory Pickups

Tesla is building a new public delivery center at Giga Texas, giving customers the option to pick up their vehicles directly at the factory site. The new facility will be located on the north end of the West End-of-Line (EOL) building and will allow customers to take delivery and complete all necessary paperwork on-site, essentially acting as a sales center attached to the factory.
According to longtime Giga Texas watcher Joe Tegtmeyer (@JoeTegtmeyer), Tesla has already been conducting a small number of direct customer deliveries from the Austin factory for several months. This included the world’s first fully autonomous vehicle delivery in June, when a Model Y drove itself directly from Giga Texas to a customer’s home with no one inside the vehicle.

The upcoming delivery center marks a significant expansion of this initiative. New road access is being built on the northwest corner of the outbound lot, connecting the facility to Tesla Road and River Road, ensuring customers can easily access the site. The decision also shifts Tesla’s original plans for a Welcome Center near Tesla Road, which will now instead be built just north of the EOL facility using the new public road access.
Tesla is also continuing discussions about a possible second Boring Company tunnel at Giga Texas, which could be used to transport Model Y vehicles from the main factory to the EOL facility. While no final decision has been made, observers expect the tunnel project could eventually move forward.
This development comes as Giga Texas ramps up Model Y production to meet demand, especially with the looming expiration of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit. By adding a public-facing delivery center, Tesla is positioning Giga Texas not only as a manufacturing hub but also as a customer-facing landmark for new vehicle handovers.
