Tesla Kicks Off Production of Refreshed Model Y Performance at Giga Berlin

Tesla has begun production of the new Model Y Performance at Gigafactory Berlin, the official Tesla Manufacturing account (@gigafactories) announced today on X. This comes just a week after the automaker officially launched the refreshed Performance variant of the Model Y in Europe.
The new Model Y Performance introduces a wide range of upgrades to both driving dynamics and cabin comfort. Tesla says the electric SUV now sprints from 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds, an improvement over the previous version’s 3.5 seconds, while offering up to 308 miles of EPA-estimated range — only 1% less than the Long Range variant.
Exterior updates include new front and rear fascias, a carbon fiber spoiler, and staggered wheels and tires for sharper handling. A redesigned adaptive damping system and high-performance brakes further enhance control and stability at higher speeds.

Inside, the Performance model gains ventilated and heated sport seats with power thigh extensions up front, heated and reclining second-row seating, and Tesla’s new 16-inch QHD central display. Acoustic glass, extra sound-damping materials, and ambient lighting help deliver a more premium cabin experience.
Production at Giga Berlin ensures European customers won’t have to wait long to receive their vehicles, with deliveries expected to begin sometime in September or October. The launch also comes as Tesla seeks to reverse slowing sales in the region, even as Giga Berlin recently celebrated building its 100,000th refreshed non-Performance Model Y.
On the other side of the world, meanwhile, Tesla recently launched the three-row, six-seat Model Y L in China, a market-exclusive variant set to begin deliveries soon. Together, these rollouts underscore Tesla’s strategy of tailoring products to specific regions as competition in the EV space continues to heat up.
