Tesla has officially confirmed that its advanced driver-assistance software, Full Self-Driving (Supervised), is launching in Australia and New Zealand. The rollout marks a major milestone for the company, bringing its hands-free driving technology to the first right-hand drive (RHD) markets as part of its path toward global deployment.

Earlier this week, Australian media teased a major announcement from Tesla, expected on Friday, August 29. That announcement appears to have been the official launch of FSD (Supervised) in the country. The system enables hands-free — though not eyes-off — driving on public roads, marking a significant step forward for driver assistance technology in the region.

According to Tesla, FSD (Supervised) will initially come to HW4-equipped Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, with a wider release expected over time. Customers will be able to purchase the software outright as a $10,100 AUD (about $6,600 USD) option, or subscribe through a monthly plan. Tesla hasn’t disclosed local subscription pricing yet.

Every new Tesla sold in Australia will also include a complimentary 30-day free trial of FSD (Supervised), giving buyers the chance to test the system on public roads. Videos of the first real-world consumer tests of FSD in Australia have already begun surfacing online. The team at Australian car review channel Chasing Cars noted that the software is “better than probably 60% of the drivers on Australian roads.” Watch their full video below:

This launch comes after Tesla confirmed in July that FSD (Supervised) had cleared regulatory review in both Australia and New Zealand and was undergoing final validation. The staged rollout will now begin very soon, with Tesla saying it is “very close” to unlocking the feature in customer cars.

Looking ahead, CEO Elon Musk has teased that the next major version, FSD V14, could begin rolling out as early as September. Musk has claimed the update will be two to three times safer and better than human drivers.

Australia and New Zealand now join a select group of countries where FSD (Supervised) is available, alongside the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and China. With this expansion, Tesla continues to push forward its global rollout of FSD (Supervised), while further testing the waters for its next big step toward autonomy.
