Starlink Extends Free Service to Canadians Impacted by August Wildfires

SpaceX’s Starlink is once again stepping in to support Canadians affected by wildfires, this time providing an additional free month of service for customers impacted by the mid-August fires.
According to an update posted on Starlink’s website, existing active customers in affected regions will automatically receive a one-month service credit, with no action required on their part. Customers who had previously cancelled or paused their service will also benefit, as Starlink is applying credits equal to the cost of their former plan to allow reactivation.
For new customers in the fire-affected areas who purchase a Starlink kit, the company is offering free service through September 15, 2025, upon contacting support. Starlink also noted that customers whose kits have been damaged by the wildfires can request a free replacement by contacting support directly.
This isn’t the first time Starlink has stepped up to help in Canada. Back in June, the company offered a similar one-month service credit to those impacted by wildfires earlier in the summer. The initiative highlights Starlink’s growing role in disaster response, as its satellite internet system is uniquely suited to restore connectivity in regions where traditional infrastructure may be compromised.
The wildfire response in Canada is only the latest in a series of relief efforts from Starlink. Over the weekend, the company confirmed it is supporting emergency response operations in Cape Verde following a devastating storm. Last month, Starlink provided aid during severe flooding in Texas, continuing a pattern of offering connectivity in crisis-hit areas around the globe.
