Tesla Launches Armor Package for Cybertruck: Price, Availability, and More

Tesla has officially unveiled the Cybertruck Terrestrial Armor Package, a $3,500 upgrade designed to give owners extra protection when venturing off-road. The kit includes an underbody battery shield, plus left and right side structural rock sliders — offering a stronger defense against rocks, debris, and scrapes on challenging terrain.
The rock sliders are made from coated steel, while the battery shield is constructed from aluminum with corrugation for improved impact absorption. As Tesla’s lead Cybertruck engineer Wes Morrill explained, one component covers the battery for impact attenuation, and another replaces the rocker panels with structural steel rock sliders to withstand breakover contact.
For now, the Terrestrial Armor Package is only available for Foundation Series Cybertrucks — Tesla’s limited launch edition that also includes perks like free Supercharging in select regions. Price includes shipment to your preferred Tesla Service Center and professional installation. Wider availability for non-Foundation Series trucks is slated for September 2025.
As of writing, the upgrade already appears to be out of stock on Tesla’s online store. Behind-the-scenes footage shared by Morrill shows Tesla engineers testing the armor in Johnson Valley, with design engineer Zach audibly wincing as parts took heavy hits.
You can also check out a two-month owner review from @ogre_codes below, which gives prospective buyers a look at how the package holds up under real-world use.

This release follows Tesla’s decision earlier this year to cancel its planned Cybertruck Range Extender accessory, issuing refunds to those who pre-ordered it. More recently, Cybertruck also received a new overload detection feature via software update 2025.26, designed to help owners avoid exceeding payload limits.
With the Terrestrial Armor Package, Tesla is clearly doubling down on the Cybertruck’s off-road credentials — just be quick if you want one, as they’re selling out fast.
