Tesla Announces 90+ Superchargers Coming to Portugal

Tesla is dramatically expanding its Supercharger network in Portugal, with over 90 new charging stalls planned across seven cities, thanks to the recent approval of the country’s new Electric Mobility regulation.
According to an update shared by the official @TeslaCharging account on X, the new regulation has cleared the way for faster Supercharger deployment across Portugal — just in time for the end-of-summer travel season. The newly announced sites and upgrades include:
- Fátima: +18 stalls and V4 upgrade of existing stalls
- Mealhada: +20 stalls and V4 upgrade of existing stalls
- Alcantarilha: +12 stalls and V4 upgrade of existing stalls
- Alcácer do Sal: +14 stalls and V4 upgrade of existing stalls
- Loulé: +8 stalls
- Castelo Branco: +8 stalls
- Matosinhos: +12 stalls
These openings are all listed as “on track” for this year and are being prioritized “ASAP.” In addition to new installations, Tesla also appears to be upgrading existing Superchargers to V4 stalls. The company recently achieved a major milestone for V4 Supercharger production, hitting 25,000 units.
The update follows a previous announcement by Tesla noting that the regulation — now fully approved — aligns Portuguese EV charging policies with broader European standards. Tesla said the law, which was years in the making, marks “great progress in unblocking charging investment and driving EV adoption in Portugal.”
This expansion further strengthens Tesla’s presence in the country, following the launch of a new Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Model Y in Portugal last year. Around the same time, Tesla also raised Model 3 prices in the country due to European tariffs on U.S. imports.
With regulatory hurdles now cleared, Tesla’s rapid Supercharger rollout should significantly improve the long-distance driving experience for EV owners across Portugal and boost overall electric vehicle adoption.
