Qatar Airways Launches Sports Streaming Powered by Starlink

Qatar Airways is taking in-flight entertainment to new heights — literally. The airline has teamed up with IMG to launch live sports streaming onboard its flights via SpaceX’s ultra-fast Starlink satellite internet, making it the first global carrier to offer IMG’s Sport 24 and Sport 24 Extra channels as a dedicated streaming experience.

Just in time for a jam-packed summer sports calendar — including Wimbledon, the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, and the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 — passengers flying on Qatar Airways’ Starlink-equipped aircraft can now watch their favourite sports live at 35,000 feet.

Streaming is available through a dedicated web player on passengers’ mobile phones, tablets, or laptops by simply scanning a QR code onboard. That means you can catch Formula 1, Champions League action, Grand Slam tennis, or even the British Open in real-time while cruising across continents.

“Our partnership with IMG marks another leap forward in redefining the inflight experience,” said Qatar Airways Group CEO Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, . “From football fans to tennis enthusiasts, this new offering ensures our guests never miss a second of the action at 35,000 feet.”

IMG President Adam Kelly added: “Live sport is one of the last remaining appointment-to-view events that people prefer to watch in real time. As consumer viewing habits continue to evolve, passengers want more ways to enjoy live sport onboard so they never have to miss a moment of the action. Qatar Airways is now making that a reality for fans traveling anywhere in the world with Sport 24.”

As of June 2025, Qatar Airways has completed more than 12,000 Starlink-connected flights, with the service now fully rolled out across its Boeing 777-300ER fleet and expanding to its Airbus A350s.

With broadband speeds that rival home internet and exclusive access to IMG’s premium sports content, Qatar Airways is positioning itself at the forefront of digital innovation in aviation.

Qatar Airways is far from the only airline to offer Starlink Wi-Fi. United Airlines flew its first Starlink-equipped plane in March, with plans to outfit the rest of its fleet with in-flight satellite internet. In February, Hawaiian Airlines also announced the deployment of Starlink Wi-Fi on its A321 aircraft.

While the basic controls are simple to learn driving directions, mastering them in conjunction with navigation tasks necessitates focus and coordination. Players must retain vehicle control while digesting directions and responding to environmental changes.
