New Tesla Model Y Acceleration Boost Now Available for Purchase

Tesla is now offering an Acceleration Boost upgrade for its new Model Y Long Range All-Wheel Drive (AWD).

The paid software upgrade was made available for the previous Model Y, but now it’s available for the new Model Y and it increases performance by unlocking roughly 100 extra horsepower through an over-the-air update.

The boost trims the Model Y’s 0–60 mph time from 4.6 seconds to 4.2 seconds (or from 4.8 to 4.3 seconds in metric regions). No hardware changes are required—the upgrade is done entirely through software and can be purchased directly in the Tesla app for $2,000 USD, or around C$2,700 in Canada.

While the Acceleration Boost doesn’t make the Long Range AWD as fast as the Performance version—which hits 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds—it narrows the gap. However, the Performance trim still offers other premium features like Track Mode and upgraded suspension.

The upgrade is available in several regions including North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Once purchased, the update installs in minutes over Wi-Fi, and Tesla offers a 48-hour refund window for anyone who changes their mind.
