Tesla plans to unveil its highly anticipated robotaxi at an event at Warner Bros. Discovery’s movie studio in the Los Angeles area, according to sources familiar with the matter, reports Bloomberg.
Originally slated for August 8 (8/8), Tesla delayed the event to October 10, 2024 (or 10/10). Sources tell Bloomberg the reveal will take place at the Burbank facility, a 110-acre lot that has 29 sound stages and has hosted iconic productions, including Batman movies and the hit TV show Friends.
The robotaxi event delay is due to CEO Elon Musk asking the Tesla team to make design changes to the robotaxi and more time to build prototypes for demo.
A Tesla robotaxi would leverage the company’s Autopilot feature with Full Self-Driving, currently in beta testing by paid users. Customers would be able to summon a Tesla robotaxi using the company’s mobile app, and even turn their own Tesla into a robotaxi to make passive income.
