SpaceX Starlink Hits 400,000 Customers in Canada

SpaceX’s Starlink satelite internet expanded to Canada back in 2020, and now Canadian customers look to be the second biggest market for the service outside of the U.S.

On Wednesday, Starlink revealed stats about its Canadian customer base, noting over 400,000 active customers.

“Starlink is now providing high-speed internet to more than 400k active Canadian customers, connecting ~3% of homes across the country!” said the official Starlink account on X. Many happy Canadian customers thanked Starlink for bringing internet to the masses that live in rural areas.

Back in June, SpaceX offered discounts in Canada for select provinces as part of its regional savings program, offering a $300 CAD discount on hardware, taking it down to $199 CAD. Monthly service costs for Starlink remain at $140 per month.

The newest Starlink Mini dish has yet to launch in Canada, as it just recently launched in the US. There about 6,000 Starlink satellites in low-Earth orbit. No other company has matched the pace of SpaceX and Starlink’s satellite internet growth.

Starlink has allowed rural Canadians to subscribe to high-speed internet on their own accord, bypassing big telecom players with monopolies that offer slow speeds and high prices. While the Canadian government continues to spend billions to connect all residents with high-speed internet, Starlink lets anyone get online by purchasing a dish online.
