After an eight-month wait, Tesla has started the delivery of its Model Y vehicles to Malaysian customers.
The initial batch of Model Y compact crossover SUVs, comprising 80 units, was distributed today at Tesla Cyberjaya. This marks the start of numerous forthcoming deliveries over the coming days and months, notes SoyaCincau.
The Model Y models delivered in Malaysia are equipped with the recently introduced Hardware 4 setup, making Malaysia one of the first markets in the region to receive these upgraded components.
Additional features in the Malaysian Model Y units include privacy glass on the rear side windows and rear windscreen, both of which are double-glazed. Ultra Red and Stealth Grey colors are also available, the same options for the new Model 3.
A notable omission is the absence of a parcel shelf in the trunk, leaving the contents visible. Furthermore, there has been a change in the aesthetics of the 19-inch Gemini Wheels. Contrasting the two-tone colourway seen during the first drive experience of the Malaysian-spec Model Y in August, the wheels are now exclusively black.
Regarding pricing, the on-the-road (OTR) price for the Tesla Model Y in Malaysia begins at RM200,700, excluding insurance. For those interested in future purchases, the estimated delivery date for new orders is currently set for Q2’24, as per the information on Tesla Malaysia’s website.
