Tesla has expanded its color palette for the Cybertruck with the introduction of new premium color paint films, enhancing customization options for its futuristic electric pickup.
The latest additions to the lineup include Satin Abyss Blue, Slip Grey, and Satin Rose Gold, joining the existing Satin Ceramic White and Satin Stealth Black. This update sees the removal of Forest Green and Crimson Red from the selection.
Priced at $6,000 USD, the new color options are available for purchase exclusively through the Tesla app. Tesla’s color paint film is described as a self-healing, urethane-based film that is on average twice as thick as traditional vinyl, offering superior protection against scratches and a more environmentally friendly alternative to standard vinyl wraps. The film covers all exterior stainless-steel surfaces of the Cybertruck, ensuring comprehensive protection and a transformative aesthetic.
The paint protection films, available only through participating Tesla Service Centers, are designed for the 2023 Model 3, 2023 Model Y, and Cybertruck vehicles. Tesla emphasizes that the installation of these films, which includes the cost of materials, will not only transform but also protect the vehicle’s appearance. Installation times may vary, taking up to three to four business days, with Tesla providing a loaner vehicle during the process.
Tesla’s paint films come with a one-year or 12,500-mile warranty for installation-related issues, under the Parts, Body, and Paint Repair Limited Warranty.
Additionally, material defects in clear films are covered by a ten-year warranty, while paint films have a five-year warranty. The company advises that the self-healing paint film can be maintained with wax, polish, clay bars, and ceramic coatings, similar to traditional automotive paint.
