Tesla Ups Model Y Price; Adds Stealth Gray for S/X, Free Colors
Tesla made several changes to its vehicle lineup on Thursday evening, seemingly aimed at driving demand in the fourth quarter of the year.
The company increased the price of its Model Y Long Range in the U.S. to $48,990, up from the previous price of $48,490, a $500 US increase (via @Tslachan).
The price increase comes after Tesla dropped Model Y Long Range pricing by $2,000 earlier this month. A price increase hints at increasing demand.
In addition to the price adjustment, Tesla introduced a new color option, ‘Stealth Gray,’ for its flagship Model S and Model X vehicles.
This new color was also applied to the new Model 3 (nicknamed ‘Highland’). Notably, all paint options for the Model S and Model X have been made free worldwide, marking a shift in Tesla’s pricing strategy for customization.

The changes come as Tesla seeks to bolster sales and customer interest in the final quarter of the year. With these adjustments, the automaker appears to be balancing between premium pricing and added value through free customization options.
