Tesla has officially registered an upgraded version of its Model Y with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The registration documents disclose key specifications for the compact crossover electric SUV, which is manufactured at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai.
According to the MIIT document, the new Model Y will have dimensions of 4,750mm in length, 1,921mm in width, and 1,624mm in height. The wheelbase is listed at 2,890mm (via @Tslachan).
The upgraded vehicle will feature a maximum speed of 217 km/h and will be equipped with an LFP battery supplied by CATL for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) configuration. The motor’s maximum output is rated at 220kW.
As for the tires, the document specifies sizes of 255/45 R19 and 255/40 R20.
This refresh for the Model Y also includes ambient lighting, just like the Model 3 ‘Highland’ update, while also sports a new dashboard design, to go with black wheel covers for the Gemini wheels.
It’s unclear when this Model Y refresh will make its way to North America, but as we’ve seen in the past, expect the updates to slowly trickle down to the entire lineup.
