Tesla Model 3 Long Range from USA Looks Destined for Canada, Again

It appears Tesla may start exporting Model 3 Long Range AWD vehicles from its Fremont, California factory again to Canada.

That’s according to a new Natural Resources Canada listing for a Model 3 Long Range AWD with 536 km (333 miles), which is different than the current version on Tesla’s website that lists range at 534 km. The listing was spotted by today by @JocPelletier.

Tesla brought back the Model 3 Long Range to Canada back in May, but as it stands the entire lineup of this electric sedan is exported from Giga Shanghai in China. The reason being? It allows Tesla to focus its USA production for the American market, to ensure federal tax credits that are based on battery chemistry requirements.

The Model 3 coming from Tesla’s Fremont factory also means the new Model 3 refresh being made at Giga Shanghai might not be coming to Canada.

We’ll wait and see if Tesla updates its website for the Model 3 Long Range, as Fremont builds will mean faster delivery times especially for those on the west coast.

Also right now, existing Model 3 inventory in Canada is showing large discounts again for the Long Range. We’re seeing a range of $6,700 CAD to $6,960 CAD off new cars, down to $60,290 CAD, before the $5,000 federal rebate and other provincial rebates (up to $4,000 in BC and $7,000 in Quebec, for example), which can lower the Model 3 down to $47,640 after a $650 CAD referral discount. That’s a pretty decent price.
