Tesla continues to tweak its vehicles and the latest minor change is for the parcel shelf in the Model Y.
According to Tesla owner Brandon (@brandonee916), his recent Model Y delivery from the company’s Fremont factory in California has a tweaked parcel shelf.
“Rear Parcel Shelf differences of newly delivered Model Ys coming from Fremont and Austin. Fremont built vehicle has a multi fold design that allows it to tuck on the back of the shelf, while Austin has a single fold which still covers the majority of the hatch area,” said Brandon on Thursday.
Here’s a video of the new Model Y parcel shelf from the Fremont build, according to Brandon:

Here’s the Austin Gigafactory Model Y parcel shelf which lacks the extra fold at the end, according to a video shared by @bryanfetterolf:

Tesla started adding this cargo cover that hides what’s in your trunk back in November 2021 for the Model Y from Giga Shanghai. The parcel shelf has since become standard on the latest Model Y builds. It’s possible to get a retrofit from Tesla for the parcel shelf with some noting it was $200 in parts extra to get it done.
Did your recent Model Y come with the new parcel shelf design?
