Tesla’s Indian Footprint: Karnataka Invites Musk to Set Up Shop

In a recent development, Karnataka’s Industries Minister, MB Patil, has extended an official invitation to Tesla, to establish its factory in the southern state of India.

This move comes on the heels of Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, expressing an interest in investing in India after a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the U.S. Musk said Tesla plans to invest in India ‘as soon as humanly possible’.

Minister Patil underscored Karnataka’s vibrant innovation and technology ecosystem. He highlighted the state’s status as a dynamic hub of technological advancement, “to propel the state for the next two decades”.

Further reinforcing the Congress regime’s pledge to engage with Tesla, Patil emphasized the government’s readiness to offer its support and provide necessary facilities for Tesla and other Elon Musk ventures.

“If Tesla considers setting up a plant in India, Karnataka, with its great potential and capabilities, I must say is ‘The Destination’”, added Patil last week.

Patil said along with the Chief Minister’s Office of Karnataka, they extend their invitation to Tesla “in words and spirit”.

Karnataka is located in southwest India and includes a coastline, with its capital Bengaluru.

This gesture signifies the state’s proactive steps to attract foreign investments and is part of its broader strategy to nurture innovation and technological development. Further details about this potential collaboration remain to be disclosed.
