Swedish electric performance car brand, Polestar, announced significant updates to its 2024 Polestar 2 model today, while releasing Canadian pricing for this model year. With enhanced performance, new motors, and a variety of standard equipment, the upgraded versions are set to start deliveries in the summer of 2023.
The updated Polestar 2 Long range Single motor variant has a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $54,950 CAD and boasts faster charging capabilities of up to 205 kW DC.
Key additions include advanced safety features such as the Blind Spot Information System with steer assist, Cross Traffic Alert with brake support, and 360-degree cameras. The vehicle’s estimated EPA combined range is now up to 515 kilometers with an all-new motor that offers 68 more horsepower than its predecessor, totaling 299 hp.
The Long range Dual motor Polestar 2, priced at $62,950 CAD, now includes the Pilot Pack as a standard feature. Previously a $4,700 option, the pack consists of various driver assistance aids, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Emergency Stop Assist, and LED front fog lights with cornering function. With its increased power output of 421 hp and an estimated range of up to 444 kilometers, the vehicle features a rear-biased drivetrain and an innovative front electric motor that can be disconnected to enhance efficiency and extend range.
The 2024 Polestar 2 variants are eligible for the Canadian government’s iZEV Incentive of $5,000, and up to $4,000 in British Columbia and $7,000 in Quebec, making them even more competitive in the EV market. Prices do not include destination fees of $2,500.
Optional upgrades such as the Plus and Performance packs are available for those seeking premium features like low-drag Brembo brakes, a Harman Kardon sound system, and a large panoramic moonroof, among others.
The 2024 Polestar 2 retains its 5-star safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), signifying the EV’s top-tier safety credentials.
Orders for the 2024 Polestar 2 are now open with deliveries scheduled to begin in August 2023.
