2023 Tesla Model 3/Y Get Price Drops in Australia

Tesla has once again adjusted the prices of its 2023 Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles in Australia, marking a decrease just weeks after the last increase and a few months after a similar round of price reductions, reports Drive.

The automaker has lowered the price of the entry-level rear-wheel-drive and Long Range variants of the Model 3 by $3,400, representing a decrease of 5% and 4%, respectively. The electric vehicle now starts at $60,900 before on-road costs, while the Model 3 Long Range is priced at $73,900 before on-road costs.

The Model 3 Performance received the most significant cut, with $4,420 taken off the price tag (including Luxury Car Tax). The vehicle can now be ordered for $86,900 before on-road costs, a reduction of nearly 5.5%. This latest change is believed to be the 14th price adjustment since orders for the Model 3 began in early 2019.

Buyers seeking more space can now save $400 on the Model Y, which is priced at $68,900 before on-road costs. The Performance grade of the Model Y now costs $94,900 before on-road costs.

These price changes coincide with the introduction of the Model Y Long Range in Australia, priced at $81,900 before on-road costs. The Long Range Model Y is also now available in other Asian markets such as Japan.

For the 2022-23 financial year, the Australian federal Luxury Car Tax imposes a 33% rate on fuel-efficient vehicles like Tesla’s battery-powered models, with a threshold of $84,916.
