Watch: Tesla Explains its Data and Privacy Practices in New Video
@Tesla Europe shared a few notes about its data and privacy practices on Thursday, noting that the data generated by your driving is not inherently linked to the driver, unless a specific safety event is detected.
The company pointed to its privacy web page, later in the thread explaining that users can see their car’s location in the Tesla app, while the company itself cannot. Additionally, Tesla says its Sentry Mode and Dashcam recordings are only saved in the user’s vehicle, rather than on their servers.
Lastly, Tesla reiterates that, while it uses data from its vehicles to improve safety and performance aspects, the company adds that those data points are not linked to individual users.

“We’re committed to protecting you anytime you get behind the wheel of a Tesla vehicle,” writes Tesla on its privacy page. “That commitment extends to your data privacy. Our privacy protections aim to go beyond industry standards, ensuring your personal data is never sold, tracked or shared without your permission or knowledge.”
Various Tesla critics have pointed to privacy concerns in the past few years, out of fear that the automaker’s cabin cameras or data-centric ecosystem could prompt data privacy issues.
On the privacy web page, Tesla also points to its system letting users decide what data goes where, adding that users can review their privacy settings or request a copy of their data by submitting a Data Privacy Request on the automaker’s privacy support page.
