Back in September 2021, Tesla ended its popular referral program “until further notice”, but then relaunched a new program in China in October 2022, then expanding the latter to the U.S. one month later.

Now, the new referral program has launched in Australia, according to techAU.

The new program, instead of just offering free Supercharging credits like before, now offers credits to both parties, that can be used to redeem for free Supercharging, merchandise and accessories.

“Our goal is to help Tesla owners share their passion for Tesla’s products and our mission — to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. As an owner, every time you bring a new friend or family member into the Tesla community, you and your friend both earn credits — you earn Referral Credits and your friend earns Buyer Credits. You also earn Loyalty Credits when you purchase additional qualifying Tesla products, as a thank you for being a loyal Tesla owner,” explains Tesla.

You can earn 2,000 credits when you refer someone to purchase a Model 3 or Model Y. A Model S or Model X purchase grants referrals 3,500 credits, according to screenshots shared by Fredrik Hedberg.

For the buyer, they get 1,500 credits when they purchase a Model 3 or Model Y, or 2,500 credits with a Model S or Model X purchase from a friend’s referral link.

If you buy a second Tesla, ‘Loyalty Credits’ are available at 3,500 for Model 3 or Model Y, and 6,000 for adding another Model S or Model X to your collection.

Buying Tesla Solar Roof and Panels can earn 9,000 credits each.

Tesla says credits expire 12 months and Supercharging miles expire 6 months “from their respective Grant Dates.” Tesla owners can share their referral program link by accessing the Loot Box in the Tesla app.
