SpaceX has made changes to pricing on its Residential service plans, with each change being dependent on local capacity for the service, as seen in an email sent to one Reddit user on Wednesday (via @Nathan Owens).

Per the email, Starlink’s service will increase in price by $10 to $120 per month in areas with limited capacity, and will decrease by $20 a month to just $90 per month in areas with excess capacity.

The changes will become effective on April 24, 2023, and will apply to both current and new customers.

Additionally, the email notes that users can return their Starlink hardware and cancel service for a full refund within 30 days of purchase or a partial refund of $250 within a year of gaining the service.

Owens also raised the important question as to what happens if service areas shift from excess to limited capacity, or vice versa. While the email doesn’t detail this situation, it seems likely that the pricing switches could face those in areas where capacity level shifts.

Starlink price changes also kicked in for U.S. RV customers, increasing from $135 to $150/month. Owens also points out U.S. Starlink Residential customers can no longer add portability.

The news comes just a few days after SpaceX changed its upcoming Starlink Fair Use Policy for business tier services, and as the company continues testing Global Roaming Services which can be tested for $200 per month.
