Pictures showcasing what appears to be the high-definition radar from Tesla’s Hardware 4.0 were recently shared on Twitter by Tesla code sleuth @greentheonly, the same source who brought us images of the full next-generation car computer from a Model X earlier this week.

Back in September of last year, the new high-definition radar Tesla is using with Hardware 4.0 was spotted in the Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC) for the Model S and Model X.

Hardware 4.0 is the much-anticipated successor to the Hardware 3.0 computing system that currently powers the Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) features in the company’s electric vehicles (EVs). HW 4.0 was previously also spotted in type approvals for the Model S and Model X in Europe.

According to @greentheonly, Tesla has already started producing vehicles with HW 4.0 but is yet to deliver any. Tesla is expected to announce the upgrade to the new computer soon, with its annual Investor Day event, scheduled for March 1 at Gigafactory Texas, ripe for such an announcement.

Tesla is expected to eventually transition all of its EVs to HW 4.0, with company CEO Elon Musk recently confirming that the long-awaited Cybertruck, slated to go into production this summer, will also ship with Hardware 4.0 onboard.
