After VinFast exported its first electric vehicles (EVs) to the U.S. about a month ago, the company’s first cars are finally arriving.

VinFast’s first 999 EVs arrived in the U.S. this week, as a vessel first docked at California’s Port of Benicia, according to a press release shared on Tuesday.

The Vietnamese auto company expects the first units to begin delivering to U.S. customers by the end of this month.

The VinFast VF 8 City Edition has been certified for 179 miles by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), for both its Eco and Plus model trims. The company also says it plans to improve the EV’s range with a software update set to be announced at the end of January.

“Today marks a very important milestone for VinFast. Early this year in Las Vegas, we announced our lineup of all-electric SUVs and made a bold promise to deliver them to the market by the end of 2022,” said Madam Le Thi Thu Thuy, VinGroup Chairperson and Global CEO of VinFast Singapore.

“Today, that promise is fulfilled. Starting with this first delivery of 999 VF 8s City Edition, VinFast has made another giant step in its ongoing mission to bring all-electric transportation to everyone.”

The first VinFast model is the VF 8 City Edition, and buyers also receive a 10-year warranty on the vehicle’s battery, along with 24/7 roadside assistance during the decade.
