Starlink Internet Down Globally, But Slowly Coming Back Online, Say Customers

SpaceX’s Starlink internet is down for the count right now globally, with outages being reported in Canada, U.S. and beyond.

Down Detector shows Starlink went down at 1:01pm PT, with many reporting outages, including Canadian provinces and U.S. states, along with nations such as Chile, while users also complained about downtime in Australia, Germany, and more.

According to @VirtuallyNathan, a Starlink customer, the internet service went down at roughly 12:57pm PT on Wednesday. He believes it may be related to how Starlink schedules its satellites, as described by the company in this FCC filing: “Because the Starlink satellites are constantly moving, the network plans these connections on 15 second intervals, continuously re-generating and publishing a schedule of connections to the satellite fleet and handing off connections between satellites.”

Today, Starlink also started rolling out IPv6 for some more customers, according to people sharing the findings on RedditIPv6 is the successor to IPv4 and offers more IP addresses, and simply put is an upgrade.

Do you have Starlink internet right now?
