SpaceX Building Site Across from Bastrop Boring Co. Facility

SpaceX is constructing a new building across from The Boring Company headquarters in Bastrop, Texas, as reported by San Antonio Express-News.

The building is 521,000 square feet, as located on Walker Watson Road, roughly 15 minutes driving from downtown Bastrop.

Bastrop is located just east of Travis County, where Tesla’s headquarters and Gigafactory Texas are located.

Currently, the rural area is primarily made up of cow pastures and farmland, and the construction project is expected to cost around $43 million.

In filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the building is classified as a “shell building,” and is being referred to as “Project Echo.”

The development order located at the property says the SpaceX building is estimated to be completed in March 2023.

News of SpaceX’s upcoming “shell building” was originally reported in September, though construction is just beginning.

The site was visited by SpaceX head Elon Musk last month, as noticed in a video Musk posted on Twitter on October 2.

SpaceX also detailed what the day-to-day looks like at its nearby Starbase in Boca Chica, Texas facility in a video last week, showing employees working on Starship ahead of its planned upcoming launch.

Last week, reports also showed that SpaceX had removed a Hyperloop test tunnel at its California site, instead placing an employee parking lot at the site.
