Elon Musk Deploying Over 50 Tesla Engineers at Twitter, Says Report
Just after Elon Musk took over Twitter late last week, it was reported that the new ‘Chief Twit’ of the company sent Tesla engineers to review the social network’s code, and to then report back findings.
Now, we may have an idea of how many Tesla engineers are helping out at Twitter, according to CNBC. The publication claims internal records they viewed show over 50 Tesla engineers have been pulled to help at Twitter, as part of Musk’s move to revamp the social network.
Two engineers from The Boring Company and one Neuralink engineer are also at Twitter right now, says CNBC.
Here are the high-profile Tesla engineers at Twitter right now:
- Director of Software Development Ashok Elluswamy
- Director of Autopilot and TeslaBot Engineering Milan Kovac
- Senior Director of Software Engineering Maha Virduhagiri
- Senior Staff Technical Program Manager Pete Scheutzow
- Tesla surveillance and manager of security intelligence, Jake Nocon
There are others in Musk’s close nit trusted circle also helping with the takeover, including:
- Head of Musk’s family office Jared Birchall
- Angel investor Jason Calacanis
- Founding PayPal COO and venture capitalist David Sacks
- James Musk formerly from Palantir
- Andrew Musk a former engineer at Neuralink
It’s unclear how moving engineers from Tesla will affect the pace of the latter’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving goals and software updates.
According to CNBC, some Twitter employees are saying managers have told them to work 12-hour shifts, seven days per week to meet deadlines set by Musk, or risk losing their jobs.
Earlier today, it was reported one of the first changes coming to Twitter is being worked on right now, including charging $20 per month for verified users, as part of a revamped Twitter Blue subscription service.
