Tesla Launches J1772 Wall Connector in Black with Tweaked Design
Last November, Tesla launched a J1772 Wall Connector for $415 USD, but it was quickly removed from its online store. The J1772 connector allowed this Wall Connector to charge Tesla and supported non-Tesla vehicles at destination chargers.
On Monday afternoon, Tesla has re-launched the J1772 Wall Connector but this time in black, and with a price hike to $550 USD (inflation is real, right?). It also comes with a tweaked design compared to the J1772 Wall Connector from last year, as the charger itself has a redesigned clip and bottom design. Overall it looks slightly slimmer than before.
“Our J1772 Wall Connector is a convenient charging solution for Tesla and non-Tesla electric vehicles alike, and is ideal for houses, apartments, hospitality properties and workplaces,” says Tesla.

“With up to 44 miles of range added per hour, a 24-foot cable, multiple power settings and a versatile indoor/outdoor design, J1772 Wall Connector provides unparalleled convenience. It can also power-share to maximize existing electrical capacity, automatically distributing power and allowing you to charge multiple vehicles simultaneously,” details the electric automaker.
Tesla says the J1772 Wall Connector is compatible with “most North American electric vehicles.” Tesla owners can use this charger with the included SAE J1772 Charging Adapter that comes with all Tesla vehicles.
“If you are a developer, manager or owner of commercial real estate and interested in purchasing more than 12 J1772 Wall Connectors, visit Commercial Charging,” says Tesla.
Currently, a regular Tesla Wall Connector costs $400 USD.
