Tesla to Supply Motors and Batteries to Power E-Cite Vehicles

E-Cite Motors is purchasing batteries and motors directly from Tesla to help build modified electric vehicles (EVs), according to a press release shared by the company on Tuesday.

The batteries and motors from Tesla will be used to create enhanced performance EVs, increasing horsepower, improving cooling and shaping the parts to a proprietary E-Cite Motors chassis.

The company also said that it previously used the Ford Performance Eluminator motor, but that it has chosen to switch to Tesla’s motor and batteries because of integration issues, cost and enhanced performance capabilities.

“After thoroughly evaluating all known potential options, the proven Tesla platform provides us with the best possible solution available,” said COO Gene Langmesser. “Using modified Tesla motors and batteries further reduces our engineering requirements, dramatically increases our performance capabilities, and due to shear economies of scale, reduces the cost of manufacturing that we can pass on to our customers. We also believe that customer confidence will be increased over using less proven platforms.”

Purchase of the E-Cite modified cars comes with a 24-month, 50,000-mile warranty that can be redeemed at certified E-Cite service centers.

The company has also submitted an application to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to use the upcoming EV on public roads. The filings detail an all-wheel-drive, all-electric Hypercar, expected to go more than 222 mph, as well as the EV Sportscar and a Super SUV Truck.
