Tesla Full Self-Driving ‘Wide Release’ by Year-End in U.S., Says Elon Musk [VIDEO]

Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) could be slated for a wider release in the U.S. this year, and it may even hit Europe, according to CEO Elon Musk.

Musk spoke at a renewable energy conference in Norway on Monday, saying that Tesla’s wider release of FSD in the U.S. and “maybe Europe” are goals he hopes to reach by the end of this year (via Reuters).

Additionally, Musk mentioned hoping to get SpaceX’s Starship into orbit by the end of the year.

During a Q&A at the conference, Musk said, “The two technologies I am focused on, trying to ideally get done before the end of the year, are getting our Starship into orbit … and then having Tesla cars to be able to do self-driving. Have self-driving in wide release at least in the U.S., and … potentially in Europe, depending on regulatory approval.”

Musk also thanked the people of Norway for being one of the quickest adopters of electric vehicles (EVs), adding that the transition to sustainable energy is crucial right now — despite civilization still needing oil and gas to make it through that transition.

The news comes after Musk stated that his two biggest goals for this year were launching Starship into orbit and releasing FSD on a broader scale.
