Rivian and XPEL Offering Paint Protection Film from $1,500

Rivian has teamed up with XPEL, a maker of Paint Protection Films (PPF) for vehicles, to offer affordable paint protection options for its all-electric truck, the R1T (via @itskyleconner).

The R1T is Rivian’s first production electric vehicle (EV). Rivian only got the first R1T units off the assembly line in September of last year, with customer deliveries beginning the next month.

The R1T is designed specifically as a comfortable all-electric option for camping trips and off-roading, so paint protection is definitely something worth looking into.

Rivian has partnered with XPEL, a leading provider of Paint Protection Films, to offer a comprehensive lineup of premium automotive film options to our customers. XPEL’s self-healing paint protection films are perfect for protecting high impact areas, keeping your paint safe from chips, scratches, and road debris with glossy ULTIMATE PLUS™ or satin finish STEALTH™ Paint Protection film.

XPEL currently offers two paint protection options for the R1T — Full Front Ultimate Plus PPF, and Complete Stealth PPF.

The Full Front Ultimate Plus package costs $1,500 USD and includes the entire hood, fenders, and mirror caps. On the other hand, the Complete Stealth PPF option costs $4,500 and covers every painted section of the vehicle in satin paint protection film. These are competitive prices versus dedicated third-party installers.

Both the Ultimate Plus and Stealth PPFs feature a heat-activated self-healing topcoat, won’t yellow from UV exposure, prevent rock chips, nicks, and scratches from harming the factory paint job, and are covered by XPEL’s 5 years or 60,000-mile warranty. The Stealth film, however, has a smooth satin finish that the cheaper option doesn’t.

According to a report from earlier this week, Rivian on Friday discussed potential layoffs with employees as a result of the global economic headwinds.
