Teen Tracking Elon Musk’s Private Jet Earns Mark Cuban as ‘Friend for Life’
The college student Elon Musk recently asked to stop tracking and publicizing his private jet travels has just made a new billionaire friend: Mark Cuban.
19-year-old college student Jack Sweeney made friends with Mark Cuban this week, after Cuban stated that he would be a “friend for life” to Sweeney if he stopped tracking his jet, according to Business Insider.
In a message, Cuban said, “By ending this you have me as a friend for life.” Cuban continued, “You probably have Elon as a friend for life and I’m guessing that is far more valuable to you than the value of a Tesla. Some day you may start a business and you would have my help.”
The conversation began with Cuban raising safety concerns for his family over Sweeney’s account @MCubansJets.
Near the end of the conversation, Sweeney agreed to remove the account and Cuban shared his email address. Still, Sweeney went on to tell Business Insider that he was disappointed with the offer.
Sweeney’s story gained traction in January after Musk offered him $5,000 to stop tracking his private jet, to which Sweeney requested $50,000.
Following Musk’s initial offer and the counter-offer, Musk wrote that it “doesn’t feel right to pay to shut this down.”
Musk’s Gulfstream G650ER jet is able to hold 19 passengers, and it includes sleeping quarters for as many as 10 people.
