DeLorean Alpha5 EV Revealed: Concept Goes 0-60 in 2.9 Seconds [PICS]

Following suit with DeLorean’s history of creating luxury cars, the automaker has shared concepts for a new vehicle it plans to release in the years to come.

DeLorean has unveiled its Alpha5 four-seater electric vehicle (EV), as seen on a password-protected page on its website (hint: ALPHA5), ahead of its reveal later on Monday evening.

The page shows the new Alpha5, which DeLorean expected to have an estimated range of over 300 miles, with a battery that offers estimates of over 100 kWh. It claims an estimated 0-60 time of 2.99 seconds and a top speed of 155 mph, with a drag coefficient of 0.23. These are for the base performance model.

The DeLorean Alpha5 with its gull wing doors is set to debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Award ramp on August 18, then later on the event’s Concept Lawn starting on August 21.

Interested parties can buy tickets to the event to see the new EV, and the site also includes buttons to either sign up or reserve a copy of the vehicle.

In a statement, DeLorean Brand and Creative Vice President Neilo Harris said, “We have been given the opportunity to re-imagine a brand that has meant so much to so many people from all corners of the globe, for 4 decades.”

Harris continued, “DeLorean has touched so many lives and set the stage for so many memories…we are all now witnessing a new chapter of this amazing story.”

DeLorean originally shared a teaser previewing the Alpha5 in April, and the company went on to say it would share the concept in August. It’s unclear how much the DeLorean will cost and if it will be able to mass produce the vehicle.
