How to Download Tesla Service Manuals for Free ($3,000 Value)

Service subscriptions through Tesla’s website are showing a free download of manuals for the automaker’s cars, as noted on Friday.

Tesla currently lets anyone download its car manuals for free on the company’s website, simply by signing up for a $0 subscription as spotted by @greentheonly on Thursday.

The subscription package site lets users click on tabs entitled “service and repair information,” which has a listed annual pricing of $0 at the moment, and “diagnostic software.”

The website says subscription pricing for diagnostic software costs $3,000 annually or $500 per month.

It’s unclear whether the change is for a limited time or for the foreseeable future, but users can effectively sign up to download the manuals just by signing up.

You just need to sign in with your Tesla account, enter your address, pick pricing choice Option 1 “INDV365 (365 DAY) USD 0”, agree to terms and sign up. No credit card payment is needed.

You’ll get a confirmation email and get immediate access to the service manuals for Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y and Roadster.

As for what’s inside the service manuals? Everything you need to know to diagnose and tear apart your Tesla. Here are the topics from the Model Y Service Manual, for example:

Tesla launched service subscriptions in the U.S. last year, but this is the first time a user has noted free downloads of the company’s manuals in the U.S. (and not just Europe).

The automaker also redesigned the Tesla service and auto body repair page just a month after launching its service subscriptions.

Last month, it was noted that Tesla had revamped its service mode interface in its software to show more information than it had before.

Earlier this year, Tesla encouraged owners to fight an Oklahoma bill proposal that could ban its service centers and deliveries within the state.
