Tesla Removes Max Range Estimate in the Mobile App’s Charge Limit Slider

Tesla app range charging

The latest Tesla mobile app update, version 4.8.0, has removed the max charge limit range indicator in the latter’s slider bar.

Before, when sliding your charge limit in the mobile app to 100%, you would be able to see the max estimated range of your battery at a full charge. But after this latest app update, it no longer displays in the app, as seen in our screenshot above.

Many owners used this max range estimate at 100% charge to determine the health of their Tesla vehicle’s battery and degradation over time. But for now, it appears Tesla has removed this from its mobile app. It’s unclear why this change was made. It could be a bug, or was possibly removed due to owners contacting the company and worrying about their battery range loss.

Tesla North can confirm this disappearing range indicator is present with vehicle software 2022.8.3 and the iOS app 4.8.0.

Another issue with the mobile app is when you set the charge limit to a certain percentage, such as 80%, the vehicle will only charge to 1% less than stated, at 79%. This one has been around for a while.

Are you seeing the disappearance of the charge limit range indicator in your Tesla app?

Boo! I really liked this feature. The number jumped around a lot based on the temperature of the battery and other things I don’t understand, but I still liked seeing the number on the slider. I can confirm that it’s still missing in app version 4.8.1 too.
