Tesla’s Insurance offering has launched in Oregon, Virginia and Colorado (via @SawyerMerritt).
The program which offers insurance based on real-time driving behaviour is available in Arizona, Illinois, Ohio, Texas and now Oregon, Virginia and Colorado. Any Tesla vehicle such as the Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y in the United States can sign up for the Insurance offering, based on Safety Scores.
Tesla says its Insurance product eliminates variables such as credit, age, gender, marital status, and accident/violation history, that would otherwise impact your premiums.
“Unlike any other telematics or usage-based insurance products, Tesla Insurance does not require an additional device to be in your vehicle. Tesla uses specific features within the vehicles to evaluate the premium for your vehicle,” explains the electric automaker.
