Elon Musk Quotes Eminem in Court Filing Opposing SEC Oversight
After the Securities and Exchange Commission reiterated that Tesla CEO Elon Musk should abide by his Twitter oversight agreement, Musk has leveraged the lyrics of the ‘Real Slim Shady’, in a new federal court filing.
Musk quoted lyrics from rapper Eminem in a filing on Tuesday with a Manhattan court, requesting again to have the SEC’s oversight of his Twitter revoked, according to Reuters.
In the filing, Musk said, “The (SEC) won’t let me be or let me be me so let me see; They tried to shut me down,” in reference to Eminem’s song “Without Me,” from 2002.
“Without Me” is considered to be meant for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which previously fined radio stations for airing “The Real Slim Shady” as the agency deemed it offensive.

The filing was part of an ongoing investigation into Musk’s November 6, 2021 poll on Twitter, asking followers if he should sell 10 percent of his stake in Tesla to pay more in taxes — subsequently selling around $16.4 billion in shares in the automaker.
Musk first asked the judge to halt SEC oversight on his Twitter earlier this month, weeks after claiming the SEC had leaked private information during the federal probe.
Last month, Musk called the SECs investigation into him and Tesla “unfounded.”
